Heya Pepefrens! Hope all of you had a blast this summer and are ready for an epic battle with your NFT cards on blockchain, because the Pepemon community is on track to launch a TCG game on a chain near you, this year.
The unique aspect of this achievement is even more mind blowing as the dApp will be entirely owned by the players whilst running a play2earn model powered by our DeFi economy.
But before going into more details on that topic, let’s review some of the things that we achieved after the halving that happened in mid May.
New Cards
We released a bunch of awesome Collector’s Edition cards that started with the Evolution exclusives Zaptry, Golden Zhu Rong and Golden Nioctib Yub, adding Yugipepe, Nioctib Yub, Zhu Rong and Dianmu Pepemon One subscription only NFTs and finishing up with the last mint of the Collectors edition series from our NFT store, the sold out (50/50) Pixel Edition Cosmony!
As trading of the Pepemon cards is now solely available on Opensea on Ethereum, we are fully focused on releasing a new series of NFTs that will be usable in our Pepemon Gaming Metaverse, the Battle Edition cards.
Good news is that all the Collector’s Edition NFT holders will be able to claim free Battle Edition cards during the launch of the Pepemon v2 platform we are working on. Bad news is that you’ll have to wait for that till Q3/Q4 of this year. But good things come to Pepefrens who wait.
Gitcoin & Giveaway.
Pepemon participated in another round of decentralized grants on the industry standard platform offered by Gitcoin, where donations made by the community are matched by sponsors of the open-source cryptoverse. Our Pepemon Degen Battleground project was one of the top grants people donated to in the NFTs and Gaming category. Funds that are collected from our backers are used for the development of our upcoming dApps, as well as enabling the DAO to collaborate with artists, devs and growth hackers.

Beside that we ran a successful giveaway campaign where we gave back to the community that helped us. We received an overwhelming response on it, reaching more than 30K people that heard about Pepemon and we will continue the tradition of it each month from now on. So stick around for more.
Partnerships
We also managed to forge some new partnerships that enabled us to reach more users. Let’s recap on those as well:
Pepemon is available on MochiMarket, a multi-chain decentralized exchange ecosystem for NFT games. This means that the Pepemon NFT holders on Binance Smart Chain have another venue to trade cards before the final snapshot for the Battle Edition drop is taken.
Pepemon NFTs are also now available on Babylons, the first community-owned NFT marketplace on BSC.
We are going to continue to expand our cryptoverse partners, carefully choosing teams that genuinely follow the same principles of the ‘community first ethos’ we embraced from the start with Pepemon.
Game & Booster-packs
Probably the most asked question is ‘wen game?’
We’ve been through this since the PPBLZ airdrop, we know crypto space is moving fast; but at the same time, learning from others’ mistakes and building game logic fully on-chain is a long and complex effort. However, we are happy to announce that the first version of our contracts have been finalized in June and after a round of peer-reviewing and auditing we are in the final stage of fixing our Chainlink VRF integration before deploying the contracts on Polygon in the next weeks so everyone can have a look at the code.
Also, with Pepemon platform V2 we are integrating the web dApp that will serve as the front-end of the autobattler game, immersing the player into the whole experience. As for our website, we’re redesigning it to an all-in-one Pepemon World hub, with new sections for Subscription, Your deck of cards and Booster-packs!
Booster-packs are one of the most exciting feature requests we’ve worked on in the past months, with lots of challenges to tackle, like decentralizing the hosting of the new Battle Edition NFTs as well as making this both an affordable and fun, real, life-like experience of opening a fresh pack of cards on chain. We essentially wanted to replicate the feeling of actually opening a booster pack. The nostalgic feeling every member of the community desperately craves since those days back in the 1990s.

As we are approaching 1 year since the original token airdrop was executed and we have some ambitious plans for Q3/Q4 of this year, we are 100% focused and fully motivated to deliver high quality dApps that have the right product market fit and add *real* value for all the Pepemon World players. We also want to reiterate the fact that the complex nature of the work ahead and the lack of affordable talent in the space might add more uncertainty to our estimations.
